YouTube generation is most certainly growing stronger year by year. Earlier, Indians had a huge fandom for Bollywood stars and now the definition of stars has gone beyond the silver screen. YouTube stardom is a new phenomenon in India. Even directors realize the huge number of fans that are drawn to projects associated with digital stars like books, movies, apps, and merchandise; there is a surge in YouTubers entering Bollywood. There have been many YouTubers who were seen in many Superhit Films of Bollywood such as ‘Tanmay Bhatt in Mr. X and Ragini MMS 2’ and even ‘Kannan Gill in Noor’ starring the Bollywood Fame Sonakshi Sinha. Joining the list will be the Internet Sensation and now a household name with TV and Sports Anchoring Sahil Khattar.
Sahil Khattar’s Life Journey
For Sahil Khattar, success came early. At 17, he became Chandigarh’s top radio jockey with his programme Love Guru. Early success puffed him up. He started living life king-size and he agrees that this over-confidence led him to many failures. In 2011, he decided to venture out to Mumbai. Unable to get steady work, he started writing dialogue and exploring acting. It was a period of struggle. While living in a chawl, he would lie to his parents that he was in a two-bedroom flat in the suburb of Bandra. To save a few bucks, he would walk rather than take an auto or bus. The hard work paid off in 2014. He became popular doing YouTube videos for Being Indian and hosted television shows like Dance India Dance and India’s Raw Star. He is also a sports enthusiast and has hosted sports events like Russia World Cup 2018 on Sony Ten 3 and live cricket show, India tour of England on Sony Liv. Now he is also a writer for many shows. He claims that actress Priyanka Chopra was the one which gave him an opportunity to write while he was hosting India’s Raw Star. He wrote for Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Mukesh Ambani, and Nita Ambani until he decided to say those lines by himself and move to YouTube and Television. Now he has his own YouTube channel named ‘Khattarnnak’ having over 5.7 million cumulative views.
Sahil Khattar’s Debut Role
Sahil will reprise the role of former Indian cricketer Syed Kirmani in Kabir Khan’s ’83. It is also quite surreal since Sahil and Syed book is lookalikes. Syed Kirmani was one of the biggest contributors in India’s First World Cup win in 1983. He made two World Records in 1983 – The Most Dismissals by a Wicketkeeper” in ODI against Zimbabwe with 5 dismissals, the Highest 9th Wicket Partnership with Kapil Dev (then Captain) of 126 Runs* not out. He’s been the most Iconic Wicket-keeper India’s ever seen after MSD and to essay the role of this historic role model, Sahil Khattar is undergoing rigorous training of Cricket and Fitness. Sahil has been a Bronze Medallist for India in the Asian Games in Roller Hockey, so while fitness has never been an issue, wicket-keeping will be a different ball game. The movie will also star Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev and Tollywood Actor Jiiva as Shrikkanth.
