#OnReview – ‘The Final Call’ is gripping and engaging for most of its flight!

Presently, there is a fad going around with every novel or real-life event being turned into either movies or web series. Taking the lead is Sacred Games, based on the novel by Vikram Chandra, season 1 of which was released in June 2018 on Netflix. In no time, the show received positive feedback from viewers and critics alike, making it one of the most loved and watched Indian series. The newest book to join this bandwagon is ‘I Will Go With You’ by Priya Kumar. Starring Arjun Rampal, Sakshi Tanwar, Vipin Sharma, Neeraj Kabi, and Anupriya Goenka, ZEE5 originals ‘The Final Call’ is based on this same book.
Released on February 22, ‘The Final Call’ stands true to its moniker where intensity and thrill combined together makes it a good watch. The popularity of this show is further corroborated by the views and praises it has received since its release. In just few weeks of its release, ‘The Final Call’ has racked in thousands of views.

The screenplay of ‘The Final Call’

A Pilot named Karan Sachdeva, played by Arjun Rampal, of Skyline flight 502 decides to take the last step and commit suicide while manning the air-borne plane, putting the life of 300 innocent individuals in danger. As the show progresses, viewers come face to face with the entire plan laid out by Arjun’s character as he spikes his drink on his own during the course of flight to make sure this is the last flight he controls. Although, he ensures not to impact the life of passengers on the plane, his plans do not go as thought. What happens on that plane to the passengers and the with the suicidal pilot makes the rest of the series.
The show also plays side stories with other characters making the series punchy and catchy. It has a women who is determined to catch her boyfriend cheating on her, a convicted criminal escaping the country, and a business man with no will to lead a life. With these many side characters and a suicidal pilot on-board, viewers can expect a lot of mystery and drama as well.

All these small pieces of storyline amalgamate with the main course of the show and make it a gripping thriller.

The Wow Factor of ‘The Final Call’

Right now, there are a few thrillers available on the traditional TV sets at home, and ‘The Final Call’, in such a scenario, emerges as an intriguing and interesting addition to the viewing list.
The screenplay of the show is also pretty packed and comprehensive with no scope of gaps or lags during the play time. The director, Vijay Lalwani, too has ensured to include only those scenes that add any kind of value to the entire story of the show, without beating around the bush. All these elements together make this show a breezy yet at-edge watch.

‘The Final Call’ character performances

The entire star cast of the show reeks of brilliance and experience of the acting field. Arjun Rampal as a depressed and suicidal pilot nails his part throughout his screen time. He even manages to beautifully portray the flaws of his life along with the disturbed past he has had and the disillusioned life he has been leading. Sakshi Tanwar as the airport cheif makes the casting choice on the point. In her suit clad avatar, Sakshi perfectly portrays the role and makes for an intelligent and smart airport chief. Other characters, Vipin Sharma, Neeraj Kabi, and Anupriya Goenka, all have played their part with utmost excellence.
In a nutshell, the screenplay of the show coupled with the strong and on-point portrayal by every star makes ‘The Final Call’ a worthwhile watch and a must-have series in your weekend binge watch list.
