#Ontalk with Sayani Gupta – The Bigwig of Bollywood and an Ace in Amazon originals
She moved Akshay Kumar to tears with her spell-binding performance in Jolly LLB 2. And, she is back now with Amazon India’s First Originals – ‘Inside Edge’. On this week’s OnTalk, we have with us– Sayani Gupta!
1. Without having much knowledge about cricket, how did you manage to bag a role as a cricket
analyst? Did you audition for the role?
Yes, it’s true that I have zero knowledge about cricket. But, my director Karan and many others on the set helped me understand the cricketing terms. After all, I’m an actor. Above all, I was a part of three projects at the same time, and I was going crazy dealing with it. Originally, I had auditioned for the role which eventually went to Sarah. But, I’m glad I got an
opportunity to play the role of ‘Rohini’.
2. In Inside Edge, you are a calm and composed sister to a highly volatile superstar batsman. Are you the same in reality?
I am calm for sure. Not very composed I must say, I’m a human. But, I am a very calm person in reality.
3. You’ve already worked on the big screen before. How difficult was the transition from big screen to a web series?
It’s the same. Be it movies or TV shows or anything. The cameras remain the same. The acting remains the same. You have to give your best no matter what the medium is.
4. Your role in Jolly LLB 2 was limited, but it was well appreciated by the critics and the audiences alike. How important is it to get critical acclaim for your performances?
It’s always a good feeling when people appreciate your work. But, deep down, as a person, you know what you’ve done and you believe in the work that you do. So, what people say or judge about you shouldn’t matter more.
5. Any plans to be a part of more web-series? If any opportunity comes your way.
Nothing as of now. I haven’t signed any web series after Inside Edge. But, i would surely love to be a part of other projects if it interests me.
6. Do you follow any Indian Web Series?
I used to follow and like ‘Band Baaja Baarat’, and I have also watched ‘Permanent Roommates’. I would love to work on such concepts in the near future.
7. Any message for the fans waiting for Season 2 of Inside Edge.
In the coming time, we are going to have a party to celebrate the success of ‘Inside Edge’. I hope we get some news or update during the same time. Even I am very curious to know how the characters develop in the next season. But, if it happens, it’s going to be bigger and better!
