Correcting the record
Corrections Policy: Our process for errors, updates and reader reports
Accuracy is an ongoing responsibility, particularly when a market source is updated after publication. This policy explains how readers can report an issue and how we distinguish a factual correction from an ordinary update, formatting edit or difference of opinion.

How to report an error
Send the full page URL, the exact sentence, number, table or chart concerned, a short explanation and a reliable supporting source. Use the Contact Us or email [email protected] with the subject “Correction request”. Please do not send confidential broker credentials or personal account documents.
How we review a report
We compare the published material with the source available at the stated time, check whether the source itself was later corrected and assess whether the issue changes the meaning. A market interpretation can reasonably differ between readers; the review focuses on whether facts, dates, labels and limitations were represented accurately.
Material corrections
A material correction changes an important name, date, figure, quotation, source attribution or conclusion. After verification, we aim to correct the page and add a clear note describing what changed. The page’s modified date may update to reflect the meaningful change.
Updates and developing stories
An update adds newly available information without necessarily meaning the earlier version was wrong. Developing policy decisions, filings and results may receive an “Updated” note with the new date and context. Old information should not be relabelled as new merely to create a freshness signal.
Minor edits
Spelling, grammar, formatting, accessibility labels and broken links may be corrected without a separate note when meaning is unchanged. We do not use minor edits to hide a substantive error.
Market-data corrections
Some data providers revise or restore a feed after an outage. A tool may refresh automatically when a verified value becomes available. If a previous display was materially misleading, we will assess whether an explanatory note is appropriate. The Data Sources and Methodology explains freshness and unavailable-data safeguards.
When the original source changes
An official source may amend a circular, filing, result or press release after our page is published. We compare the available versions and update the article when the change is material. Where possible, the note will distinguish between an error in our reporting and a later revision made by the original publisher.
Reviewing a correction decision
If you believe a correction request was misunderstood, reply with the missing evidence and explain the specific point still in dispute. A second review does not guarantee a different outcome, but it helps us check whether the evidence or scope was overlooked. Repeated abusive or unsupported demands may not receive further responses.
No paid removal of accurate reporting
A person or advertiser cannot purchase the removal or alteration of accurate, relevant reporting. Legitimate privacy, legal, safety and factual-correction requests are reviewed on their merits.
Frequently asked questions
Will every edit receive a correction note?
No. Minor spelling, formatting and broken-link fixes may be made silently when they do not alter meaning.
What is the difference between an update and a correction?
An update adds new information; a correction fixes information that was materially wrong or misleading.
Can I request a correction by email?
Yes. Email [email protected] with the page URL, exact issue and a reliable source.
